Autumn at the Twin Falls Idaho Temple

It has been a beautiful autumn in Twin Falls so far.  My favorite part about it, has been the gorgeous red leaves on the trees by the temple.  I had been admiring them for a few weeks, when I realized that I had better get pictures of them before the leaves all fell.  My mom also wanted pictures, and so we went on a photo field trip together to the temple.

I really love this one of the Temple gates and the path.  It's like an invitation to the Temple.

As we were heading back to the car, I saw these roses, and had to get this shot with the temple in the background.

A Twin Falls Photo Field Trip

I love Twin Falls.  It is a special place - a small town, but with plenty of shopping, great outdoors activities, and everything is at the most, ten minutes away.  A little while back, I was hired to take some pictures of Twin and all the special things that make it what it is.  I jumped at the chance to capture this special town, where I went to high school, and where my husband was born and raised.  In fact, I had him help me make my list of things to photograph - there was a lot :).

I love all the old churches down town.

And then there are the other beautiful buildings downtown, like the courthouse and the library.

In the warehouse district, there are some really fantastic buildings, and around the corner, is the Depot Grill - quintessential Twin Falls. 

The Turf Club is another quintessential Twin Falls location.  It's been around forever, and I wish I could have seen it in its hey-day.

And then there are the things that remind you that you are surrounded by farms.  Like silos in the downtown area. 

Or a small alfalfa field in the middle of a neighborhood, complete with irrigation wheels.

And of course, there is the sugar factory, that although it makes the town smell really awful at times, is something that is purely Twin Falls, with the piles of sugar beets an smoke that trails in the air.

One place that is particularly special to me, is Twin Falls High School, where my husband and I graduated.  It is an old school, but it was a great school, and I have so many amazing memories that were made there.

And CSI, the small college in town, that allowed for lots of memories too, and not because I was ever a student there, but I spent many hours performing in their auditorium, playing games on their giant lawns, and many other things.

But even with all these wonderful places in Twin, my favorite place is the Twin Falls Idaho Temple.  It is a special haven, and it is such an amazing blessing to have a temple in our little town.

I am so grateful for this small town, and for the chance I have to live here with my family before we head back into the rest of the world.  It really is a special place.

The Beautiful Snake River Canyon

I still remember when I first moved to Twin Falls, way back in the summer of 1993.  I missed my mountains and thought it was crazy to be in a place so flat.  And then I went to the canyon, and all my ideas changed.  The Snake River Canyon is an amazing and spectacularly beautiful place - a hidden gem.  And really, it is hidden - you won't be able to see and appreciate it unless you go to the canyon rim or down inside, but once you do, beauty awaits.

I have always loved taking pictures of nature, and so now that we are back in Twin Falls for this year, I am taking advantage of the opportunity to take pictures of the beauty of the canyon, the river, the waterfalls, and all that makes it special.

I have so many different pictures of the Perrine Bridge - from tons of different angles and in different seasons.  It is quite amazing, and so I will probably keep right on taking pictures of it :).

I had to get a picture of the bridge with the statue of its namesake - IB Perrine.

Going under the bridge is a pretty fun thing too, and what an amazing perspective.

I also love Canyon Springs Golf Course - not only did my husband work there (and I actually worked there as a cleaning lady with my mom for a bit), but it looks so magical nestled in the canyon.  From above, it reminds me of the Peter Pan ride at Disney World :).

And there are waterfalls everywhere.  The really big ones, like Shoshone Falls, and the smaller ones that are still pretty awesome.

Shoshone Falls is still impressive, even during the part of the year where all the water is gone, sent off to irrigate farms in the Magic Valley.

Being out on the Snake River is always a special experience, and you have to be on the river to get to find treasures like Pillar Falls.

So beautiful, so dangerous, and so special.

And then there is Dierkes Lake, a place I have so many memories of from my high school years.

I went out early one morning, and not only was I in time for the sunrise on the lake, but there was no wind, and so the lake was still as glass, like a mirror, making for some of my very favorite pictures.

Twin Falls is such a beautiful place, and I am blessed to have been able to capture some of it with my camera.
